Just Keep Swimming.....

Ever wonder what a 12 month old looks like during swim lessons??

She has had 2 lessons so far. Pretty much it's just dunking her over and over and over and over.....getting her used to holding her breath when she goes underwater. I was skeptical, but it's actually working. She isn't swallowing water anymore. They use lots of different and unique ways of dunking her...like, singing songs then dunking her or sitting her on the edge of the pool and then dunking her or sitting her on a big, floating piece of foam and then, you guessed it....dunking her. Although, when I say "dunking her" that makes it sound so harsh and it's really not. This lady is REALLY good at what she does and Laney is actually having a really good time.

We had a drowning this weekend in our ward. By a COMPLETE miracle the little boy is okay. He was dead at one point and the EMTs brought him back to life. I thought of you when it happened and was grateful you are teachingher to swim!! She looks llike she is having a great time!!

She looks pretty happy with the whole thing...this is a wonderful gift you're giving her. I should have done something like this when my kids were younger- my son is at a point where he freaks out if his face gets in the water.

she's so precious!

We tried parent/child lessons with Emily when she was two. By the last session, she'd grip at his neck so tightly to try to avoid being dunked that he'd leave with purple marks. And he'd be deaf in one ear from her piercing screams of fear/fury... I have a great video of Jared SCREAMING, "NOOOO!" when Dan told him it was time to dunk. We haven't bothered yet with Connor (beyond family swim times, no actual lessons though)

I hope the lessons continue to go well for you! I'm anxiously awaiting the day my kids decide swimming and splashing and getting faces wet is fun

NOTHIN' cuter than a wee one in the water! My almost 3-year old gets such a kick out of himself in the pool!

She's so sweet!

Wow-so cool that this is offered. And so smart. What a GREAT way to hopefully prevent water accidents. What a cutie.

it makes me hold my breath...do you find yourself doing that through the whole lesson?

I think it is a great thing you are doing for her, for sure...just don't know if I could stay and watch.
